First off, yes you can learn the Japanese hirigana and katakana by choosing Japanese on the blackbelt CD. These CDs really do give the basic vocabulary to master, and guide you threw it to really get the whole language thing down.
Multiple concepts are introduced multiple times and by the time you finish you will have mastered basic Chinese conversation and vocabulary, plus have a reading level to begin reading basic Chinese newspapars.
This really is an amazing course. I recomend it in combonation with the “Read Chinese” serise.
